2022 event details coming soon!

Not merely the absence of tension but the presence of justice

our community commitment

Since 1993, we have awarded more than 320+ scholarships to Chapel Hill and Orange County high school and college students who have demonstrated a commitment to community involvement and improvement through their civic, educational and religious activities.

The scholarships are awarded without regard to race, religion or creed and place special emphasis on financial need.

We hope you will join with us and support our funding efforts to help build a greater sense of community while helping deserving young people embrace the opportunity of getting a college education.

MLK Annual Celebration

This year’s event will feature a keynote speech by Carl Fox, a former Superior Court Judge in Orange & Chatham counties. In 2005, Judge Fox became the first Black judge in his Orange-Chatham county district. Judge Fox will be joined at this event by appearances by several other prominent community leaders celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. King.

Throughout our virtual program, you will hear musical selections from local musicians from the Triangle region.

View the presentation of this year’s Bridge Builder Award, Citizenship Award, and the presentation of the student scholarships.
